About the Team
Newt.exe #17080 is a Potomac, Maryland-based community robotics team in the FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC). Founded in 2019, our core values, Engage, X-Plore, and Educate (.EXE), drive our mission during the COVID pandemic. We inspire STEM interest, promote self-learning and innovation, educate peers through virtual and in-person training, and embrace Gracious Professionalism. This ethos encourages respectful collaboration with other teams and fosters our team's chemistry, enhancing our skills for excellence.
Team Plans & Goals
Team Plan:
Our team's key planning component is balancing the goals between senior members and new members to keep the team motivated and push us to do better this season. We aim to transfer knowledge to train our younger members while also staying competitive for qualifiers and states, and seek to qualify for the Worlds
Team Goals:
-
Build an open and inclusive team that enables every member to explore their interests, find their niche, and learn from each other.
-
Train new team members, get them engaged and pass on our knowledge and expertise.
-
Practice fundraising, aiming to get some financial support for our team instead of just being funded by parents.
-
Act with Gracious Professionalism in everything we do: doing our best while respecting everyone.
-
Spread the core values of FIRST, including cooperation, discovery, innovation, inclusion, teamwork, and fun.
